The White Wizard's Convention

Vanishing Act
This game was a lot of fun. The "fair play" clues are there, but don't count on everyone spotting them! The story plays out like a soap-opera. In fact, I used an 80's nighttime soap backdrop to the party, (think "Dynasty," "Dallas" and so forth). Have your guests arrive in the glitz and glamour of the "me" decade, (not to mention huge shoulder pads) and you get the idea. Very simple to use and serve it along with an elegant dinner and you can't go wrong! Very pleasantly surprised.

This was a great party! This was my sweet 16, and we all had a blast! Everyone dressed there part. I was surprised at how well everyone got into it. Death of a Teen Idol
This was a lot of fun. I(Mom)played the role of Pat(host)for my daughter's birthday party. After the 1st round most of the girls thought they knew "who did it" but then it kept changing. After the last round of clues, noone had the mystery solved.
It was interesting to see the "twist" after the murderer was revealed.
Now my adult girlfriends want to have a couples party and play a mystery game!

Once Upon A Murder
This was a great game!! They are reenacting one of their favorite board games, so they all knew what to do. They loved the costuming and everyone stayed in character.
We used it for my daughter's 12th BD party and easily adjusted it to adapt to all girls. I was concerned that it would be too hard for them to figure out, but they solved it!!

The Teen Idol Mystery
We had 15 of my daughters friends at the Psycho Circus for her 16th birthday. Everyone really enjoyed it and want to do another mystery soon. They totally got into the costumes and did an awesome time staying in character the whole evening.
I definitely recommend the host reading through the entire game and helping to narrate what is happening. It was a little confusing at times and if I had been playing I wouldn't have known what to do next at times.

I had my daughters 13th birthday party this weekend. WE used all the characters in Love Potion Mystery - the girls all had a ton of fun. The party mystery lasted almost 1 1/2 hours - as the girls wanted the clues fast... THe only suggestion I can give - is Parents when you have this many girls in your home - get ear plugs - it got very loud....

Love Potion Number Five
They were predicting rain for the night our party was suppose to be held on, so the weekend before, when the weather was beautiful, we set up the murder scene and took crime scene photos. My husband dressed the part of Ricki (red mark and bruising on the next and all) and we placed the props in the general area where they would have been found by the investigators and then took a lot of photos from different angles. Some were close ups and some were distance shots of everything.
The night of the party, we placed an outline of a dead body and caution tape around the area where we took the photos. All of our guests had to walk past this area to get to the house, so it set the scene even with the bad weather.
The crime scene photos were then revealed by "Pat", who was able to obtain them due to her "secret job." It worked really well and everybody had fun. Everybody wants to do another one.
We also ended up being short one required character and handled this by reassigning those clues to the other characters.

Welcome to the Neighborhood
My daughter had her 12th birthday sleep over party and this was the perfect murder mystery game to chose for the age group. It had all the elements that made it exciting without getting over complicated. We had in total 7 girls and I was the host as well as the eighth character, Pat Williams( manager).
We had a red carpet( plastic table cloth) right outside the front door to welcome the celebriities and ofcourse the papparazzi were there, not losing any opportunity to photograph the guests at the famous movie star's residence. The girls were at first a bit reserved with their roles however they soon became comfortable with each other. I had made a whole package for each individual with all the clues for the three rounds, notebook and ofcourse a pen to make notes while the game went on. We had Appetizers and Cocktail after the first round and after the second round we had the main dinner.We proceeded with the third round and after the third round, I had a friend dressed up as a "Talent Recruiter" visit with her Karaoke Machine. This was a nice break where the girls sang some solos an in a group. However we had to know who the murderer was and the Talent recruiter added that she could not sign anyone until the real murderer was unveiled. Hence the Round 4. After which we cut the mystery themed cake. It was a real fun filled evening.

The King is Dead: A Night in Sin City
The game was terrific fun, and a definite success! I booked two rooms in an old hotel, which suited the game perfectly. I almost worked closely with the manager who made sure the waitresses knew what was going on. Some players took a little time getting into character but once everyone was there in costume the sense of intrigue and the settings won them round. We even had a real policemen (called in as a favour by the Manager) call in which surprised everyone, including me!
The meal and the conversations were complimented by background music of the 1920s which I got from iTunes and put onto CD. It felt very authentic and the wine also helped relax the guests. All in all a very enjoyable evening, and a very interesting plot, which made everyone think!
Tips I would give others; The one thing I would do diferently if doing this again would be to have a buffet and not a sit-down meal. Making accusations across the table works OK, but there wasn't as much mingling and I think that helps to stir and cross-polinate the plot somewhat. Also, I recommend that the host has someone neutral to read the whole plot before the game as one or two characters don't have as much to do. I had to invent a character, and in doing so, I gave additional clues to those chracters who I was told had the least to do (and to do this I only had to read through part 1).
I recommend this game to anyone who was a very enjoyable and thoroughly unique night!!!

The Nifty Fifties
We used The Nifty Fifties for a Girk Scout Mother/Daughter Mystery Dinner Theater. It was awesome! The script was rated "E" for everyone, but was a little over the heads of the younger Brownies. They still enjoyed the play even if they didn't understand all of it.
"Duck & Cover" haas a HUGE SUCCESS! The cast laughed, the guests laughed and squealed, and Maybelle was a riot!
Most of our actors were teenagers and we didn't require them to memorize scripts (just carry them on stage). IT still worked well.
Everone dressed in costume -even the guests! We had almost 150 people show up!
In keeping with the diner theme, we served burgers, fries, onion rings, and root beer floats for dessert.
The local vintage car club provided a car to park out in front of the venue.
We would definatley be interested in doing another Dinner Theater with this company!
None of the adults in charge had ever been to a Mystery Theater much less hosted one. the materials provided were clear, concise and step by step. Even when to serve the food and what music play! It couldn't have been easier!
I haven't looked at all of the titles yet, but if the rest are as well planned out as this one they must be great!

The Nifty Fifties
The party was a great success! I had guests that were not into it at first. But it was a suprise party for my husband so they reluctantly played along. As soon as the party got going, everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and got into role playing. I had people there in all age groups; 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's! I couldn't have been more pleased. I served roitesserie (sp?) chicken and new potatoes out of tin buckets. No utinsils but I handed out warm wash clothes to clean their hands. Great fun.
I would like to host a party for my 68 year old mother because she thought the party sounded fun.

I was convinced by previous reviews that guessing the murderer would be challenging. The kids were disappointed when the murderer was revealed-they thought it was far too obvious. And the Winner is....Murder (Large Group)
This was our 4th Annual Mystery Party from Host Party and one of the BEST! The Mystery was a good one, many twists, turns and laughs.... The format was more scripted, which helped accelerate the game. We did 2 rounds, did the buffet, and total game time was around 3 hours.
Everyone came in costumes, all were awesome. We served a buffet style bill of fare, which included roasted piglets, spinach/cheese pie, peacock eggs and Mead....(You guess what they were!), guests also brought finger foods.
I would highly suggest midieval type backgound music, candles, and a castle atmosphere to make this party extra special. Awesome time, we are already planning next year's MMP!

A Medieval Murder
I hosted this party as part of a corporate ski trip. I had to adapt it for my own means and write in an extra 5 guests which took alot of hard work, but it paid off immensly. Murder in the Snow
Our group had a tremendous time with Blueprints for Murder. We type cast all the people in the production. We used this as an evangelism outreach for adults in our community. After the Murder mystery our pastor gave a gospel message.
I really liked how everything was accessible on line. Next time we will try to use the web based invitations more. The play it self was a lot of fun.
We are definitely doing this again. We are planning on making it bigger and want to do it around Halloween time and once again use it as an evangelical outreach.
I would recommend this to anyone who was looking for a unique way to have an adult fellowship or even one for teens.

Blueprints for Murder
This party was a hit! It was first time hosting or attending a murder mystery party but it will not be my last! We made a big sign stuck in a haybale that welcomed our guests to "The Last Chance Saloon." Our dining room became the saloon with a bar and lots of wanted posters I made for free on the internet using actual pictures of the guests! My husband used to old saloon-style doors which we put in one doorway for a saloon-entrance effect. We used bandanas as our napkins and canning jars as glasses. Metal stars, ropes, rocking horses, and barb wire made for easy and quick decorations. For dinner, we served trail mix and nuts to start us off, followed by chili with all the fixin's. Dessert was apple pie--the ending to a perfect party! The best part of the night was being with a fabulous group of people who really put a lot of thought into their costumes and characters. They were true cowboys and cowgirls!

Murder in the Wild West
Another fun game from Host-Party.Com. The author does a great job, and the solution to the mystery is satisfying and makes sense. So, from a "mystery" point of view, it works well. However, the plot and setting itself, is just plain FUN! You'll have a blast! The circus setting makes it a fun night for you and your guests. And I liked the "multiple murders," as it kind of reminded me of "Clue" and "10 Little Indians," but not so serious. Add a few activities and serve up some popcorn and hot dogs and enjoy a night at the Psycho Circus! This was a great time!

Diamond Thief
We did this one with a party of 11 year old boys, and had a great time. Some suggestions- if you are missing some characters, it is still possible to work this mystery. What we did was to post the clues for the missing characters on a wall after each round- if you remembered to check the wall, you got their clues. To make it a little more difficult, you might want to screen out some of the clues.
Great fun, in addition to solving the mystery, the kids had a great time "swashbuckling" the night away!

A Knight's Quest
This was our first attempt at a mystery party. Wow! we all had a great deal of fun.
Our group was larger than the script provided, so we built custom characters that interacted with others. We did not require costumes but suggested that everyone would get into the right frame of mind with their fedora hats, sequin and feather headbands and sparkling beads to be worn that night.
EVERYONE came in costume.
We combined this with a dinner in the home of a Xi Kappa and our evening began at 6:30 p.m. , about 8:00 p.m. we began the mystery game. We awarded a super slueth trophy to a Xi Kappa who accused the "guilty party" in round 4. Again--WOW we had loads of fun
We ended around 10:45 p.m. and took pictures to share with others who go on-line .

A St Valentine's Day Murder Mystery
We played this mystery at a 50th birthday celebration with about 60 guests. It was an incredible success!! Weeks later, and people are still talking about it. The interaction between tables/teams was hilarious to watch and everyone came away feeling stuffed from the meal and exhilarated with the murder mystery challenge. I would highly recommend this mystery.

The Return of the Pink Lace Diamond
We had thirteen people and took the advice of a comment on your site and made the food buffet style. The setting was in my house on my lavender farm, so it was already rather "French." I created an additional character (Sophie Depardieu) who was a maid and I played her. That way I was able to focus on greeting guests and fulfilling their needs while I did the final touches on the food and put it out. I loved it! I could keep track of the party without having to be distracted from playing a part. Because I speak French it was fun to pretend to have limited English speaking skills.
The guests dressed up and took to their parts completely! It was advantageous to have the parts well described with descriptions of what they should and should not reveal. They were able to ad lib to their hearts' content. To a person they had a great time and can't wait to do one again next year. (It was a fund-raising event.)

Night at the Waskers
This was a great game; not too difficult and not too easy. I really think the ages are irrelivent because I did it for a 12th birthday and some of my friends didn't understand some things. I guess it all depends on your mental capacity and your ability to think things through. I had a hunch from the very beginning and found it funny to be right in the end.
It really helps if people aren't shy to get into their character and o a bit of Nancy-Drewing.
I think the website is really wonderful and I was so happy with it that I'm doing another from the website for my sister's party.

We held our dinner mystery game party at a private home.
We celebrated on after Tommy G. was gone and he was represented in a cast iron pot, his ashes were available for all to see and view that evening.
Our guest list topped to 21 and special characters were added to fit the size of our group.
The guests-bunnies and joes-got into the role playing and it was loads of fun to decifier who the murderer was!
We would recommend this event for a special evening. Be prepared to ask guests to stay to the end or it might spoil their fun. Maybe we will give them concrete overshoes on their way OUT!

A St Valentine's Day Murder Mystery
used this mystery for my 16th birthday party, and it worked really well. I told the six other people I needed for the cast that I needed them to help with the mystery, but kept that aspect of the party a secret from everyone else. I picked someone really loud to be the cleaner and in the middle of dinner she ran in the room screaming and collapsed. The looks on my other guests' faces were priceless. The cast broke out their scripts at that point.
I hosted this event at my house, so I hid one A and one B clue for each group. Between scenes, guests were free to wander the house (which had been turned into a hotel during the first scene with elevator, exit and bathroom signs and do not disturb door knob hangers) to look for any clues.
It was a great success though it is nearly impossible to guess. The story is very twisted and even if you had all the clues in front of you it would be a bit of a challenge. Two groups picked the correct murderer but had the wrong motive.
This party was definitely original and everyone seemed to appreciate that. I can't wait to host my next one!

The Pink Lace Diamond
Ni hao! We had a great time with the Chinese Tea Party murder dinner! It was just coincidence that it happened at the kick off the Chinese New Year. Because of the Chinese New Year I was able to find a TON of decorations, props, etc. The game is a riot -- the names are hilarious, everyone has a motive and a possible weapon, and a sordid past (though not TOO nasty, good clean fun). My guests went over the top with their costumes which is half of the fun. We ordered Chinese take-out (a variety of items from which our guests could choose). And of course we had tea!
Some characters play a larger role than others. I would recommend that you might give shyer guests parts like Chin Lo, Soo Yu, Chou Chou or Wan Ting. (We didn't even have a Chou Chou or Wan Ting.)
Not every one follows along at the same pace, and we had fun every once in a while just stopping and playing "catch up" (does everyone get it so far?)
This game would work well for young adults, too (we're all in our 40's) and I think it is even ok for teens.
The props from the web site were good -- photos, newspaper, important forms and documents, etc.-- and add to the "reality".
I did not email the invitations -- I snail-mailed them.

Chinese Tea House Take-Out
The Chinese tea House Murder was amazing! The most fun part was getting the house ready with paper lanterns and anything Chinese that was around the house. Getting dressed up was almost as much fun as playing. Some of the clues were really funny because I had to change some parts to female, but I didn't want to look at the clues and change them. Some advice, if your going to have an all girls party, see which girls don't mind being guys and don't bother changing the characters to all girls. It added to the fun with some of my best friends falling in love with me. All in all, this game was very fun and I will most certainly do one again!

Chinese Tea House Take-Out
"Death By Chocolate" was the perfect theme for a party with
couples. We tied it in with a Valentines theme and had everyone include something "red" into their costume. The game went smoothly which made all of the pre-game preparation worthwhile. Everyone really got into the spirit of the evening by dressing for their parts and giving each character their own personality. The finger print analyzer was great although I might have waited to use it closer towards the end of the game as many guest used it to mark suspects off of their lists early in the evening. We had fun selecting the music for the evening and even found a song named, "Death by Chocolate"! We all had a great time and look forward to doing it again sometime!

BEST PARTY EVER! Before the party, I was reading the reviews online and got nervous since most said that it was too long. WEll, MY PARTY WENT OVER THE TIME! It depends on HOW you play it. If you sit in a circle and answer and ask questions, it will become boring and long. How I did was that people walked around and mingled with each other. They were told though to spy and listen to others conversations. I was nervous that this way people wouldn't know all the clues,but some people did figure out who the killer is, so I guess it was okay (you don't everyone to guess it!!)! Also, you HAVE to have a good group of people playing. If they don't get into it, it won't be any fun. And the last thing I suggest is to plant some of your own clues. Maybe a note with the "Dear ----" chopped off that says how much he/she HATES James! Throw in a few ringers too, to throw them off. It was more with this. Over all, the party was great. If you use all the characters, it will last about 3 hours, but it didn't even feel half that long! It was the funnest party and people are STILL talking about it! Buy this game and you won't be disapointed!

A License To Murder
We chose this game for our office holiday party. As we hoped, we had plenty of volunteers for the cast characters. We utilized the email invitation and sent a number of pre-game clues to the guests. The script gave us lots of room to be creative and we sent out weekly news flashes from the North Pole Inquirer to build momentum for the office party. We also purchased a number of props from one of the party web sites to decorate the walls of the party room with the feel of Santa's workshop. The guests arrived ready to solve the mystery. The cast lost all apprehension and played their roles magnificantly. It was the best office holiday party ever! I don't think the next year's holiday party committee will be able to top this one!

I'm Dreaming of a Red Christmas: a Christmas Mystery
This party was a hit! We had such a great time laughing, investigating, interrogating and playing our characters that I can't wait to do another one. Diamond Thief
"A Chinese Teahouse" was a fun night out. I particularly liked the red-herrings which led us in all different directions and the funny character names, some of which got more and more amusing and tongue-tied as the night went on. Also, the "Confucius say..." philosophical comments fit the story perfectly. It really helped that everyone was into their characters and arrived in some really creative costumes.

Chinese Tea House Take-Out
It has been a long time since I have laughed so hard. The theme"Death at the Vicarge" provided a hilarious time for my choir and church friends. I changed all the pictures in my house to photos of the Pope and provided a victim in the bathroom upstairs. My friends played their parts so well that I saw creative sides I had never seen before. We added an evening of wine tasting to "pick the new communion wine" for the upcoming litergical year.

Blueprints for Murder was a great play for our annual un-Christmas dinner party and it was a hugh success. Everyone had a terrific time! Scene three got a little long, but the cast started adlibbing more and that helped keep the audience's attention. We used this mystery for a New Year's Eve Party and combined it with a progressive dinner. We had 22 people and it took a lot of work to 'steal' and develop new characters - but it was well worth it! Everyone felt that it was a GREAT party. We were surprised that everyone really got into their characters. There was a lot of spontaneous action and 'adlibbing'. The internet connection was great as the guests were from several different states and only coming to the party location for the weekend. All-in-all this was a great investment and excellent value which produced a wonderful evening's entertainment.

Murder Before Midnight
We enjoyed our first murder mystery. The characters were fun. We performed it at a hotel and changed rooms with every round. We even outlined the dead body in tape on the floor. Although the script had no "who was where, at the time of the murderer." We also thought the murderer was a bit obvious. I might try a more CSI type version next time. Good LUCK!

The Railburn Affair
A fun way to see in the New Year with a group of good friends who all knew each other.
The format worked on the whole as long as the clues etc were organised in sequence into individual named envelopes and the host orchestrated the start of rounds etc so everyone knew what they were supposed to be doing!...

The Legend of Goldie Rushmore's Long Lost Loot
What a rootin' tootin' fun time had by all! This party was a blast. Most involved had never done a murder mystery before, but acted like serious theatrical performers from the start of Round 1. Many, many laughs and even tears from laughter came with this party. Fun for anyone young, old, shy or outgoing. The clues and instructions were easily understood and the game went smoothly. I had this party for 8 13-14 y/o girls. They had a lot of fun and really got into the acting. When there isn't a script like in this game the players have to be very imaginative and not shy. If you think people will be uncomfortable acting things out and making things up you might want to try a scripted murder mystery. You must invite people who will play along. I liked being able to send invitations and info via info but would like it easier to upload photos in your character. Most pictures are gifs so it would be nice if you could just easily upload jpeg files. But all was fun and i would do it again and order again here.

Death of the Blue Shadow
This party ROCKED!!! My husband Jerry and our sons Justin, Edward, and David attended "Death of the Blue Shadow" on Dec. 8 at my brother Jeff and sister-in-law Judy's new apartment. The fun started before we were even in the door: 'red carpet'-ed sidewalk, poster, and a front door marked "VIP Lounge"!
We entered, and Judy, our host, was in costume and welcomed us to the super-hero convention. There were wonderful decorations; a favorite was the use of super-hero sound effect cut-outs on the walls: 'blam', 'pow', etc., just like on the old Batman TV show! We quickly changed into our costumes, and mingled with them and family friend Frank. As we awaited the other guests, we helped ourselves to the wonderful deli and fruit and veggie platters, and the chips and dip and plenty of ice cold drinks.
When the other guests (Hattie, Kim, and Justin) arrived, the mystery started. We had a great time trying to solve it. In the end, Frank won by being the only guest to solve the mystery.....now there will be no stopping his ego, hahaha! David won for best costume and best slogan, and Hattie's friend Justin won for best super power.
Though many of us had never been to a murder mystery party before, we all had a great time and it was not difficult for the novices to get the hang of things. Judy had added some characters at the last minute; no one correctly guessed all of the ones they were, a real testament to her story-telling abilities!
It was great fun seeing all of the creative costumes and hearing slogans and powers, and giving reasons for our guesses at whom the villian was. This was a brilliant party and will not be forgotten!!!

Back to the Eighties
We had a FABULOUS time with this party! The unexpected part of this party was that EVERYONE on the staff and their guests wanted a "part". So we made up parts for 42 people to participate. It was great fun, ALOT of work...but big fun! The payoff was lots of laughs at the party, and a party that everyone was still laughing about in the days that followed.
We've never had a store party that everyone was talking about in the weeks leading up to it. Folks were comparing costume ideas and curiosities about just how this "game" worked. Our staff ranges from the ages of 16-82 (and this worked perfect for all ages). We had guests that have come to our parties for years who've never talked, but this year not only mixed and mingled but laughed and carried on.
We took the written parts and divided those up and then scripted the other guests. It was so fun to "make up" guests that were similar to their actual position at work. We even had the holidays and fictional characters attend b/c they were upset with Santa b/c he gets all the glory. (the costumes were WONDERFUL....the Tooth Fairy was my favorite) Those folks were making their cases that their holidays should be more important. We created a "detective" role and that person went from guest to guest during round 2 asking every guest for their alibi from 6 hours ago and why they should be voted the next Santa. It was a riot to hear the alibis that folks came up with. Santa returned to the party as the ghost of Santa and continued to work the crowd. What a blast! And the best part is that everyone got to participate in one way or another.
We had this story take place at a restaurant at the North Pole and decorated the hall we rented to look like a casual dining restaurant. The dinner was a pitch in which worked out well too. Three of our "characters" were the wait staff at the fictional "The North Pole's....La Lorna's Restaurant....a fine dining experience"...

However, the structure felt a little stiff after the first two rounds. It was hard to get people motivated to all gather around to hear what everyone had to say. The Great Hope Diamond C(h)ase
A Knight's Quest. EXCELLENT party for my son's 10th birthday party. The boys absolutely LOVED being in character. Buy extra licorice and gummies because the kids eat the ammunition! Death of a Pirate
We had a delightful evening playing "Chinese Tea House Take-Out". I liked the historical side to the game, which was most interesting, but it was also very entertaining. Lots of laughs, great props and clues pertaining to the different characters. Getting ready for the party was great fun. We had a good time at the local Asian market looking for costmes and accessories to match our characters. Everyone got into the spirit of the game, following the twists of the plot and all the guests enjoyed the originality of the occasion.
One minor suggestion for future hosts: order Chinese take-out and have an open buffet so the host (or hostess) can relax and fully enjoy participating in the game

Welcome to the Neighborhood
Had a lot of fun with the game. Upper limit of the game was for 14 guests. I knew after purchase of it I would have 15. Not terribly difficult to write in a new character: E. Z. Muhney, producer of Hal O'Ween's horror films. His/her motive was that although all of Hal's movies were critically acclaimed, and his first few made a profit at the box office, his last few films were losing money. The evidence for all to see was a cost/benefit analysis of each of the first 7 films.
My wife was retiring on 10/31, and we played the game on 10/27 as a Retirement/Halloween party. The game was played around a buffet of finger food. Everyone got into the spirit and came in costume. Everyone had a good time and dressed for their parts. Four or five people guessed the right killer, so it wasn't too hard to figure out.
The downside of the game was that not all materials e-mailed from the web site went to the recipients. The general instructions lead you to believe that the clues would be revealed informally as the guests mingled, but actually it was more of a Q&A game where everyone had to hear all of the clues as they were read out loud. The Q&As in the game materials were in no particular order and, although I tried to put them in a logical order, the guests were reluctant to start off each round without prompting by me as host.
Anyway, all had fun. We got some pictures which I may try to upload if I have time and can figure out how to do.

Horror in the Haunted House
OH MY! We had so much fun with this Murder Mystery. To my amazement nobody guessed who the killer was. Everyone enjoyed the evening and remained in character for the almost 4 hours it took us to get through it all. Time was not an issue for us as we had rented a house and were staying there for the weekend. I went to the work and created 12 different kinds of chocolates and had them displayed on 'silver trays' (cardboard with tin-foil on it) with name tags of the chocolates. I served a Milky-Way Martini to everyone as they arrived. I opted to make Lasagna instead of the pot roast that was suggested, this way I didn't have to worry about any cooking while we were playing. We were all so full that we didn't even get to the chocolates that were made. We will be doing another one next year. Make sure if you do not use the additional characters that you remove their clues from the others and substitute those clues for something else. I didn't want to know who the killer was so I didn't read any of the clues ahead of time. I think next time I will. I would recommend this Murder Mystery to any group of friends that want to have a great time and have a wonderful imagination to get into 'character'.

It was the second mystery we have done from this company. We liked that it was scripted and was longer than the one we previously did. We hosted it for a group of teenagers 14-16 years old. We did not reveal who was the murderer, it is much better if no one knows until the end!

My daughters B-day is near Halloween so we do alot of Halloween/costume parties for her B-day. This year she asked if she could have a muredr mystery party. She was turning 11 so we decided to try the Beverly Hills Assassin and let the girls sleep over as well. We sent the invites well ahead of time so they could "get into character" and boy did they. we broke up the rounds with food and presents and the girls kept character the entire time. My parents, her dad, and I were laughing at how well some of the girls were doing with their parts. As best I could tell they all had fun and my daughter was right on with who should play what rolls based on the description. The party was just 2 days ago and she already thinks we should do it again. We hope new mysteries keep being added and look forward to trying another one soon.

Beverly Hills Assassin
This was great! Everybody showed up in character and it really set the scene. We decorated my whole basement, and we even had a coffin! My dad bought a mask and dressed up like Jack Ular, the owner. He got everyon scared! We had pizza and snacks while sharing clues, and after we solved the mystery, we became ourselves and had cake and I opened presents. I plan to throw a party like this every year. There are sooooo many to choose from!

I had a group of friends who didn't know each other well. Playing the game provided a way to break up a series of generic get-to-know you questions. They all were excited about the party before hand and left even more excited, many saying that they would play again. My guests did a lot of ad libbing and definately drove the plot forward, having props and clues prepared in envelopes sure made my job easier. I would recommend playing this game again. I'm going to be doing another soon based on their requests!

We were all first time Murder Mystery players and we all had a lot of fun. Staying organized is the number one thing. As host and player I was busier than others, but had a great time. I would suggest to turn off tvs and music so the game can be played out. I always made sure the announcements were heard by everyone at the end of the round to make sure people received the clues. I did notice that most clues among guests did seem to make their way around the room. We are definitely going to host another from host-party.com.

The Psycho Circus
BRAVO!!! Well done folks! This was a huge hit with all the party goers. Everybody really got into their parts and hammed it up even adding extras as we went along. Only three out of fourteen guessed the murderer correct so you did a good job not giving up the culprit along the way. Some of the folks that attended had been to other murder mystery type parties before and said this one was well written and much better than the others they had played. We decorated the house up like a haunted house with scary theme music, smoke machines, and lots of dry ice in the fountains etc. We had a dead body all dressed up as Hal complete with a big rat chewing on Hals arm. The fingerprint analyzer was a big surprise for everyone, it would have worked better if it had a place in the script to actually use it but we made due. We did two rounds and then took breaks for food and cosmos, wine and visiting between. Took about four hours all together but we did take several breaks. The night flew by and all the attendees are still raving about it. Again, WELL DONE. We will be back for more hopefully new and exciting Halloween themed mysteries next year.

Retro Reality Check
We had a blast. The characters were a scream, and everyone came in comstume. I had one guest (Celia Fate) who did not show up, and one extra guest, which I knew about ahead of time...so I created a new character - Eva Fangoria, lady of the night. Jack was one of her frequent callers, and she fell for him. She told him how she felt, but the feelings were unreturned. She was not invited to the contest but forged her invitation so she could crash the party and see who Jack's new flame was. Haha. I got great pictures and will defintely do this again.

Try to decorate the area and serve syleized food, it really adds to the atmosphere. Murder Before Midnight
We held this game just before Halloween. The place was decorated to suit the Vampire/Ghostly theme, which was easy at this time of year. Everyone came in fab costumes and brought all the relevant props. We played this over a sit down meal and what a laugh we all had. Of course the wine, beer and spirits flowed and by the end we were all very merry. I made a vodka jelly monster head and managed to get skull shaped wine glasses. The scene was set by other wall hangings, table dressings and sound effects and made for a really good atmosphere. We even managed to get a blow up coffin, complete with body which we dressed as Jack Ular (Dracula)and he was obviously the body for the evening. We served blood as a pre dinner drink which was actually champagne (or the cheaper stuff, i.e. Cava) with a drop of natural red food colouring.
We all thoroughly enjoyed this and would do it again without hesitation. This was my third murder party and they just get better. If you're thinking of trying it, you most definately should.

Everyone came dressed and in character and I don't think any of us had laughed that hard in a long time. It was a blast! It was our first mystery party and it was easy to follow and very easy to do. We decorated our house as the Greasy Spoon Services, had posters everywhere, signs outside, signs in the bathroom and served up greasy cheeseburgers! It was fabulous and we can't wait to do another one! Thanks!

Intrigue on the Interstate
Downloaded party & printed & held game with 10 people. Took about 2 hours after dinner.
Things we liked;
Story was understandable, funny, and colorful yet to the point.
The wording was family friendly, no vulgar language.
Things we didn't like;
Organization - printed out whole acrobat file but map is different size.
Printed page font was too small, could have been much larger to fill the 1/2 sheet of paper.
Logo behind type made reading it difficult.
We really didn't know who was to ask the first question during a round.
If we had put each round in a separate envelope for each person, we would have used 80 envelopes. We chose to staple each round together and put all in one envelope in order of rounds.
Overall, it made a fun evening and was enjoyed by all. Thanks

Horror in the Haunted House
It was fun! No one guessed the murderer! The hosting couple had the room all decorated with the theme, food was wonderful and everyone really played their parts!

Shore Secret
This game was perfect for kids turning 12! If you have 3 kids that really get into it, the others will follow. We did it 1 1/2 months before Halloween and I think that helped. We were surprised how much they put into the costumes and how much they talked about it in school beforehand as I was nervous they might think it was dorky. Once they heard "murder" mystery they were intrigued. We had all girls then had a sleepover in a tent in the yard afterwards. All night they called each other the actual names and continued on with the plot line. Wouldn't recommend the sleepover though....they went to bed at 4am!

Once Upon A Murder
Wow! What an amazing Murder Mystery! I liked how there were specific clues to each round. This helped us move along very quickly. As we had a big room to work with the guests ended up moving around and mingling, but before long all the guests started following each other because new evidence was being found. I created 2 new Detective positions as Detective Klu Less and Detective LuLu. The Detectives read the second part of Elle Razor's beginning, letting all of the characters know that they would be investigating the murder. At the beginning of Round 4 they announced they'd be taking Finger Prints, and we had a table set up to take finger prints. At the beginning of Round 7, our detectives gave the fingerprint analysis, that had been pre-printed, but the guests decided to disregard the evidence and point at people that had come up as a "No Match" with the analysis. We gave awards for Murder Sluth (the people that solved the murder), as well to the Best Actor/Actress, and to the Best Costume. Everyone had a wonderful time, and was very glad that they came. I can't wait to do this again!

Horror in the Haunted House
Death of a Vampire was a funny, well written murder mystery! 14 players along with 2 in house detectives played, and not one person guessed "who done it." This is one Halloween party my guests will never forget. Everyone came in costume and brought with them their imaginations and sence of humor. Even one guest in paticular who usually keeps to herself at get togethers came out of her shell for the party. Having to come in character was very liberating for her. This type of party really gets the people involved and interested in the story line.
My advice for anyone who wants to do this mystery is have your food themed. For instance, we served meat loaf that was molded to look like rats. We had bat wings which were really chicken wings. Use your imagination and be creative. There are plenty of cookbooks that illustrate funny and spooky food fit for Castle Alucard. Also, we didn't break character until after the reveal. I decorated the house with bats and cobwebs. I even had haunted house music in the back ground.
I totally recommend this mystery. It is funny, easy to play, the characters are all great.
